EXPRESS DANCE teacher workshops

The Express Dance teacher workshops are an accessible way of ushering the joy of dance into any classroom. EXPRESS DANCE is an approach suitable for grades 1-12, that encourages students to discover new ways of learning dance using their own movement lexicon. These day-long seminars provide educators with the tools and strategies required to address the expectations in the
British Columbia Ministry of Education Dance Curriculum, and inspire them to use dance to create cross-curricular links to subjects such as Social Studies, English, Drama and Geography.

Following the completion of the EXPRESS DANCE workshop, teachers will receive their Level 1 certification as an EXPRESS DANCE classroom facilitator, allowing them to incorporate EXPRESS DANCE into their daily classroom activities.

Reminisce and Record Your Family History
Have you ever been transported back to a particular time and place on the opening notes of a song? Has an object ever reminded you of a long ago relative? Sights, sounds, and artifacts can all trigger memories that in turn lead to remembering stories of one's past. This is the theory behind reminisce kits, which contain select memorabilia intended to stimulate remembering. Elders, their kids and grandkids are invited to come and learn about reminisce kits, how to use them, and how to make your own. Then share some of your own stories with your family members. This interactive workshop - co-hosted by Ridge Meadows Seniors Society,  MRPM Seniors Network, and the Literacy Committee - is suitable for multigenerational family groups as well as professionals who work with seniors.

Location: Social Activity Room, Ridge Meadows Seniors Activity Centre, 12150 - 224 Street, Maple Ridge
